Tactile Chronemics
A working idea about touch, vibration, and how time is noticed or organized.
Where This Came From
I have not yet added the experience that led to this idea.
What I Noticed
A physical signal can mark a moment or an interval.
The Question
How can touch, vibration, or rhythm affect the way a person notices time?
What I Call It
I call this developing concept Tactile Chronemics.
Working Definition
I use the term for questions about physical signals and the perception or organization of time, including alerts, rhythm, waiting, and accessible technology.
Example
A vibration alert can mark the end of a wait. That example opens a question about timing; it does not establish a general result about time perception.
What This Does Not Claim
Tactile Chronemics does not claim to be an established academic discipline.
Limitations
Different signals, people, and settings may produce different experiences. The terms need more precise boundaries.
What I Still Do Not Know
The relationship between a signal and a person’s experience of time needs further definition.
